THere was recently a big music festival in Philly over a weekend….my bro eddie proclaimed that Yo La Tengo was by far the best act…..

In a weird set of circumstances I just got notice that I won a 700 dollar scholarship for my graduate studies which is very exciting and I immediately thought about spending it on a “road trip” but than just as quickly had to douse that thought as it’s better served elsewhere in a more practical manner…..

Congratulations.  That’s a nice note on which to start the long weekend.

I’m looking forward to digging around the revived Trip Shakespeare site this weekend.

Hey guys… don’t expect a full TS reunion ever… sorry to say.  I’ve begged and begged Elaine.  I simply can’t imagine it ever happening after our conversations.  Breaks my heart, but it just is what it is, sadly.  And I don’t blame her, either… just wish things were different.  Que sera sera.

Brad Kern is a wonderful guy, great soundman, record producer/engineer, as well as a travel companion of Dan, Matt, Elaine, Jakes and mine for many years… he’s also a very sweet father to his two young children and he had a bad run in with a car.  Everyone who is playing has had some experience working with Brad, with the possible exception of Mason.  He needs a little fund to get him over the health hump and that’s what this is all about.

My understanding is that each bands appearance will be fairly brief, but there may be some time reserved for mad fun at the end…

Obviously bummed that it seems so resoundingly certain that Elaine won’t ever come back for a reunion.  I would fathom that over the last 20 years she’s moved in some totally new and different directions.  I recently got reacquainted w/an acid tripping punk buddy from back in the day who is now a new age drippy that performs death and dying transitional services(!)

I would also presume that Elaine may have not kept her chops up, so it could be a bit of an undertaking to get it back.

Either way I bet we’d all be curious to hear more details regarding the situation (if they can be shared w/the public that is).

Now that Dan is living in Sunny California, I wonder how much practice time he’s getting in with semisonic…..especially with Jake living somewhere on the East Coast…John doesn’t have anyone to practice with…..that’s why he spends so much time golfing, I guess…..hehehehe….some golfers only take up the sport in order to wear cool golf attire that doesn’t look appropriate anywhere else…nothing like having a Gin & Tonic in your plaid slacks and Lacoste…..

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for future Twilight Hours gigs…I’m hoping to expect the new album release in the Springish season…and some shows over the Holidays….I think I can swing a spring…correction…I Will spring for a spring trip!

Cool to finally have John come in and burst our bubbles like that. Dissappointing but at least we know what to expect. I wonder why. We will never know what those conversations were like…. so let us SPECULATE!!

John: Oh cmon, Elaine. It’ll be just like old times.

Elaine: Yea, John that’s what I’m afriad of! You had scheduled wardrobe changes every 15 minutes. Every TEN minutes on weekends! That’s why we could never afford to eat!

Elaine: There were never any cameras in the studio! You brung in a wardrobe girl that we had to pay! 50% of our budget went into your f*(&^ing clothes.

To all super squadders who are attending tonight - I wish you a fantastic time and enjoyment of whatever “mad fun” is at the end!  I expect to catch a full status tomorrow morning.

i have been following my self-prescribed treatment of NOTHING all day and i have my comfiest shoes laid out! i confess to be a little giddy at the prospect of lugging my huge self down to the big bad city to go see all our boys play…the only times i’ve managed to get myself out of the house this month are for baby doctor appointments. hopefully there will be a better ratio of music to discussion of dilation and effacement. let’s hope so. see all ya’ll at the big show!!
